At Last, A Cruise Ship With No Single Supplement: Norwegian Epic's 'Studio Staterooms'
Solo travelers are always cranky about so-called "single supplements" on cruise ships and organized tours that force them to pay more on a per-person basis than two people traveling together.
A new cruise ship, the Norwegian Epic, begins service in July that is addressing that complaint with 128 single-person staterooms at a fair price--$799 per cabin for either of the ship's Eastern or Western Caribbean seven-day sailings. Tickets for the "studio staterooms" go on sale tomorrow, Monday, Jan. 18, 2010. Keep in mind airfare to and from the ship, port fees, and various other taxes and fees are added to that price.
Each studio stateroom is 100-square-feet and has a queen bed or two twin beds plus a flat-screen TV and private bath. There's a common area reserved for those occupying a studio stateroom that's called the Studio Lounge that offers coffee, cocktails, snacks as well as a large-screen television and concierge service.
But wait, there's more.
Each cabin also has color-changing lighting options that allows a passenger to change the lighting depending on the time of day or his or her mood. There's even a "love" setting for romantic nights at sea. I can't vouch for what love lighting looks like, but if it works, it probably means the next time you book a cruise, you'll have to reserve a standard cabin for two.

Luxury cruises rely on offering excellent service to keep its clientele happy. Within reason, a cruise ship can be classed as luxury if the service is outstanding, even though the rest of the offerings are not quite so good. Luxury cruise packages offer you a wide range of facilities with 5-star service in each of them.

My husband and I are big fans of your show and would like to suggest for you to travel to Transylvania, Romania. I have never seen anything about Romania on travel specials but I believe it is a beautiful place and one that needs more advertisement for tourism.
Throughout Transylvania you will find cities that were part of Roman settlements dating back 2,000 years such as Turda [Roman Potaissa], Cluj-Napoca [Roman Napoca], Alba Iulia [Roman Apulum], and Sarmisegetusa Regia which was the capital of the indigenous population, known as the Dacians. Romania is notorious for the great amounts of gold and silver taken by the Romans (estimated at 365,000 kg of silver and 165,000 kg of gold).
There are also beautiful castles from medieval times in Sinaia, Brasov, Sibiu, Bran, and Hunedoara that blend into the beautiful natural landscape.
My home town, Turda, and the nearby large city Cluj-Napoca, dates back before the Roman Empire colonized Dacia, however it enters written history with the Roman military settlement Legio V Macedonica in Potaissa [Turda] and the first roads built by Caesar Trajan. In the town center, in front of the Post Office, there is a commemorative stone tablet stating the first written record of Potaissa, the Roman name given to the municipality of Turda.
Some of the major attractions in Turda are the Salt Mines (Salina), the salt lakes (Durgau), the Turda Gorge (Cheile Turzii) which are all beautiful examples of natural landscapes in Romania, and the Roman ruins from their basecamp between the years 166 - 274 AD.
Here is the official website for the town:

Some regions maintain their cultural heritage by showcasing their folk/national costumes and holding lively festivals, especially in Maramures. In particular, there was an area called Sighetu' Marmatiei that was secluded from the rest of civilization until a recent construction of connecting highways.
If I have sparked your curiosity and you are considering making a show in this region, I would be very happy to give you more information and help you get in contact with extremely knowledgeable local tour guides from my country to help you along the way.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Aureliana Salerno
